Heavy duty buffer, LNE/LMS/BR Boplate E, Bogie Bolster D and a few others.
It also seems these buffers are different from the Tyne Dock ore wagon buffers which are 1'81/2''.
Our buffers are all cast from a high quality white metal which contains a small percentage of lead to improve the strength and give a smooth surface to the finished item.
