Use a cutting broach to open the hole in the etch to a nice fit for the rivet, push the rivet in place then file the tail of the rivet to just 0.25mm clear of the assembled joint, squeeze the rivet slowly in a small vice until you feel the joint start to tighten then stop. The joint should be just slack enough to move when flicked with the fingers.
